Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
OATHS SWORN . . . loyalties tested . . . forces collide.

Following the colossal battle against the Empire’s warriors on the Burning Plains, Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have narrowly escaped with their lives. Still there is more at hand for the Rider and his dragon, as Eragon finds himself bound by a tangle of promises he may not be able to keep.

First is Eragon’s oath to his cousin Roran: to help rescue Roran’s beloved, Katrina, from King Galbatorix’s clutches. But Eragon owes his loyalty to others, too. The Varden are in desperate need of his talents and strength—as are the elves and dwarves. When unrest claims the rebels and danger strikes from every corner, Eragon must make choices— choices that take him across the Empire and beyond, choices that may lead to unimagined sacrifice.

Eragon is the greatest hope to rid the land of tyranny. Can this once-simple farm boy unite the rebel forces and defeat the king?

3 out of 5 stars Wish I had read the reviews before I bought this !!   January 5, 2009

Brisingr is a great improvement over the previous two books of this series. I stress the word series, because it seems as if Paolini is determined to stretch this out as long as he can.
The only reason I bought this book, is because I had already read the previous two, and assumed it was a trilogy. It isn't !!
Instead the short plot is dragged out across hundreds of pages, only to meet with a totally unsatisfactory end.

Buyers beware !

1 out of 5 stars Far too long of a book to say not much   January 5, 2009
I concur with many other reviewers - this book's story could easily have been completed within 100-200 pages. While we travel all over Alagaesia, we really don't move very far from where we started at the beginning of the book. While the publishers salivate about raking in more money on a fourth book, I find it really poor story telling.

5 out of 5 stars Great Imagination, I love it!   January 3, 2009
Although I was disappointed that this wasn't the last book, I thought it was well written and creative. I am looking forward to seeing how the last book wraps the story up. If you like dragons and fantasy I definitely recommend reading this series.

1 out of 5 stars it's taking me months to finish this book.....   January 3, 2009

I loved the first two books - couldn't put them down. This third book I have been forcing myself to read for about three months now, and still there is no end in sight. It sucks. What's it about? Bla bla bla bla bla. I am 500 pages in, and nearly nothing significant has happened, other then in the first two chapters. I hate it, but I'll have to finish it, and the upcoming fourth book, just so I can lay them to rest. I'll probably burn them so no one will find them and torture themselves by reading them.

5 out of 5 stars The best yet!   December 31, 2008

Thsi was by far the best of the series so far. I am totally amazed that there are some readers who haven't given it 5 stars. I read it in about 3 days. When I had finished reading it, I actually picked it back up and read most of it again. It was that good!
